Shirley Porter

Shirley Porter, age 90 of Highland, IL, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Alhambra Rehab & Health Care in Alhambra, IL.

She was born on Sunday, September 8, 1935, in Belleville, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Florence (nee Thomas) Thouvenot.

On Saturday, November 25, 1961, she married Edwin Porter, who passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009.

Mrs. Porter and Edwin farmed and milked cows by hand until the 1990s, south of St. Jacob. They also were members of Emerald Mound Grange in Lebanon, IL. After the death of her husband, Shirley moved to an apartment in Highland where she enjoyed a simple life filled with needlepoint crafts and bingo.

Shirley is survived by her Brother-In-Law – Harold Blumberg of Marine, IL; Nephew – James (Tammy) Blumberg of Marine, IL; Nephew – Bill Porter of Maryville, IL; Great Niece – Jessica (Travis) Horner of Marine, IL; Great Niece – Jennifer (Eric) Rinkel of Glen Carbon, IL, and 4 Great Great Nieces & Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Edwin Porter; Father – Clarence Thouvenot; Mother – Florence Thouvenot (nee Thomas) Sisters-In-Law – Loretta Porter, Marian Porter and Betty Blumberg;

Brother-In-Law – Charles Porter; Niece – Donna Weil and Nephew – Harold Blumberg, Jr.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

A Graveside Service will be at Keystone Cemetery in Saint Jacob, IL, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
