The Great Mascoutah Elf Hunt to Begin December 2

One of the elves has already been spotted roaming around The Herald Offices, but he’s still hiding and you won’t see him quite yet!

Mascoutah – We at The Herald are introducing a new community event this holiday season with The Great Mascoutah Elf Hunt, a festive scavenger hunt designed to bring families together, support local businesses and spread holiday cheer!

The Elf Hunt will begin on Monday, December 2, and run for one or two weeks, depending on the number of participating businesses. Families will search for small elves hidden in local businesses throughout Mascoutah. Each elf will have a unique name, and participants will record the names on a special form printed in the Thanksgiving week edition of The Herald.

Participants who find all the elves and submit their completed forms by the deadline will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize basket filled with contributions from participating businesses.

Businesses are encouraged to take part by hosting an elf and donating a small prize worth $15 or more or a monetary contribution of $15 or more. Elves can be displayed inside stores or in window displays to ensure they are visible to participants. Key dates for the event include:

– November 22 (Noon): Deadline for businesses to confirm participation and donations.

– December 2: Official start of the Elf Hunt. The newspaper for the Nov. 28 issue will contain a page with the required form. Participants MUST use this form from the newspaper to fill out the information and turn it in. Sorry, no photocopies. Extra copies are available at our office.

– December 13: End of the hunt. Elf hunters will be required to write down the name of the elf, what business it is located in, their age and their phone number

– December 18 by 4:30 PM: Deadline for participants to submit completed forms to The Herald.

Completed forms can be dropped off at The Herald office, where a post box will be available. Winners of the prize drawing will be contacted shortly after the deadline and the following week, they will be featured in The Herald Newspaper.

The Great Mascoutah Elf Hunt aims to create a festive and engaging activity for families while boosting visibility and foot traffic for local businesses. Full details and a list of participating locations will be published in the Thanksgiving edition of The Herald.
