With 3,056 elementary schools across Illinois, achieving these rankings places all three schools in the top 10%, a remarkable feat for any district. Notably, Scott Elementary School’s placement in the top one percentile underscores its exceptional performance.

Superintendent Dr. David Deets celebrated this achievement, stating, “MSD19 once again did pretty fantastic. Having all three of our schools in the top 200 is a fantastic achievement! And having an SES score in the top one percentile is really special.”

He was thrilled and proud to see that the schools were within the top 10% of Illinois schools, highlighting Mascoutah’s schools and their ranks. He added, “This is a fantastic reflection of our district’s dedication to excellence.”

Scott Elementary School Principal Kellen Kettwich, now in his third year leading the school, expressed his pride in SES’s top-tier ranking.

“We are very proud to be ranked among the Top 25 achieving elementary/middle schools in the state of Illinois as recognized by the Illinois School Report Card. This achievement is a direct result of the dedication of our outstanding teachers and staff at SES. They are the heart of our school, and the effort and time they put into doing what’s best for their students is inspiring and fun to be a part of,” said Kettwich.

He also emphasized the vital role the community plays in the school’s success, particularly the families connected to Scott Air Force Base. “Military life certainly presents unique challenges, and we are so thankful for strong support from our families. The Mascoutah School District has a long tradition of being a top-tier school district, and I am proud to be a part of the team at SES that is able to keep that tradition going.”

SES teachers Trisha Gass and Lisa Sedlacek discussed the unique aspects of their community, saying in a shared statement, “Our teachers have a great appreciation for our military students’ diverse life experiences. We know the daily challenges that face our students and we work hard to meet both their academic and emotional needs.”

They also praised the collaborative environment within the district, adding, “We have a strong sense of community, bolstered by supportive parents, that enables our students to thrive. It is an honor to see that our teachers’ love for the students they serve is reflected in this ranking.”
